FUNdraising

There are many ways to make a difference.

From garage sales to gold coin donations to alternative gift ideas for special occasions we welcome your FUNdraising support. These are some of the fun ways money has been raised to support projects in Congo. Click here for more ideas.

Share your Skill

Artisan bread maker Brigit Marx (centre) shared her skills with enthusiastic bakers-to-be, eager to support HandUp Congo’s women’s health projects as well as learn the art of bread making.

The November 2023 workshop is just one example of how volunteers can have fun and support Congo at the same time!

The workshop was held in November 2023, kindly hosted by Boronia Park Uniting Church (Sydney).

Craft workshops

Asking volunteers with skills like crafting to lead workshops are popular fundraising events.

In October 2023, Terri Shine and her Sewing Basket buddies showed less experienced crafters how to make Christmas ornaments and banners with African fabric.

Why not share your crafting skills with us?

Volunteer apiarists donate their honey for us to sell, enabling us to raise money for the Lotumbe beekeeping project.

Days-for-girls.jpeg

Every girl. Everywhere. Period.

That includes Congo!

Days for Girls (DfG) Gosford North, Avoca Beach and Ryde in New South Wales, Australia have made and donated washable, reusable menstrual health kits that are a sustainable solution girls can count on month after month.

SewAid has donated sewing kits. The Lotumbe Sewing School has used DfG’s template to make kits enabling girls to stay in school. In the DRC, girls often miss out on school when they have their periods unless they have a washable pad.

Maureen used crowdfunding

Maureen is a nurse in Sydney who used a crowdfunding platform to raise funds for her travel expenses to and from Congo so she could participate in delivering Emergency Medicine education.

Bee-cause they care!

Team Bee runners and walkers raised more than $2000 for the Lotumbe beekeeping initiative at the popular City to Surf 14 km fun run in 2017 and 2018.

Everyone is happily buzzing around Dervla and Jin (1st and 3rd left), who were the top fundraisers (and bee-st dressed).
