African Federation for Emergency Medicine

The African Federation for Emergency Medicine (AFEM) works to ensure the development of collaborative, comprehensive, and cross-cutting emergency care systems in Africa. 

Balwyn Rotary Club To celebrate the 100th anniversary of Rotary in Australia in 2021, the Rotary Club of Balwyn donates a significant portion of its annual income generated from its Camberwell Sunday Market in Victoria to assist other Rotary Clubs in Australia in their humanitarian endeavours.

HandUp Congo was fortunate to receive funding to build a community centre in Lotumbe, Equateur Province. The centre was dedicated in June 2023.

BluGibbon

BLUGIBBON is an Australian privately owned healthcare consultancy with recruitment at its core. They have provided USB’s with emergency medicine resources to more than 600 doctors and nurses in the Democratic Replublic of Congo (DRC).

Community of the Disciples of Christ in Congo (CDCC) 

The CDCC, in what today is the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), was founded in 1889. The church has been affiliated with the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in the United States since its inception and is a member of the Church of Christ in Congo, which represents 60 Protestant denominations.

HEAL Africa HEAL Africa compassionately serves vulnerable people and communities in the Democratic Republic of the Congo through a holistic approach to Healthcare, Education, Community Action, and Leadership development in response to changing needs. HandUp Congo partners with them on emergency medicine education and humanitarian aid.

HydroBump, an Australian entrepreneurial company, has designed a mild, low-sugar, gluten-free flavoured hydration booster to help women stay hydrated and keep up with the increased water needs during pregnancy and breastfeeding. “We hope to also take the edge off the nausea and keep women afloat during those trying times,” says founder Dr Kitty Gayed, a Sydney-based doctor who experienced many of the unpleasant side effects during her first pregnancy in 2022.

ICA Australia 

ICA Australia was founded in 1967 to further human development in Australia and around the world. ICA Australia is concerned with the human factor in societal change. Central to the work of the ICA is the belief that sustainable development occurs when people are meaningfully engaged to ensure respect and justice for all in matters impacting their lives and the organisations and communities they are a part of. It is also ICA’s belief that cultures based on inclusive participation and profound respect help people work creatively and sustainably, minimise conflict and accomplish more together. 

Our mission is to gather information on innovative efforts in the developing world to promote women's health and education; to fund and to guide donors, who wish to contribute, either through Light My Fire or other nonprofits/NGOs, to projects that meet their interests.

Pink Umbrella Foundation

Pink Umbrella Foundation’s primary mission is to address social inequities in developing countries through interventions that are substantially life changing and touch as many people as possible.

The  Foundation aims to increase the number of people with access to education, health care and a sustainable livelihood while striving to give people dignity, hope and choice thus making the world a fairer place.

Pink Umbrella Foundation have provided latrines for Lotumbe Hospital and $1000 for the Emergency Medicine Education Project.

Rotary Club of Addison

This Texas USA-based Rotary club (District 5810) has collaborated with us in several ways including covering the cost of two Congolese doctors to attend the 2018 African Conference on Emergency Medicine in Kigali, Rwanda. 

Rotary Australia World community Service

Rotary Australia World Community Service (RAWCS) assists Rotary Clubs in Australia with the development and management of international community service projects. HandUp Congo has two registered RAWCS projects.

Rotary International is a vital project partner, matching grants and raising awareness about HandUp Congo’s initiatives. In 2017/18 Rotary Randwick provided funds for the Emergency Medicine Education Project and Rotary e-Club of Greater Sydney provided a grant for Lotumbe Community Development.

Australian donors can receive tax deductibility when donating to HandUp Congo projects via the Rotary Australia website.

Rotary E-Club of Greater Sydney 

Australia’s First E-Club, the Rotary E-Club of Greater Sydney was chartered on the 14th of October 2011 in District 9680 with 29 members.  It is now part of District 9685, and has more Rotary Australia World Community Service (RAWCS) projects of any club in Australia with projects in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Kenya, Uganda, Fiji, East Timor and elsewhere.  Members meet online twice a month. 

Royce and Jean Abbey Vocational Scholarship https://www.royceabbey.com - A scholarship in Australia for up to three months is available to people from developing nations. In 2024, HandUp Congo was fortunate to receive this scholarship benefiting Rev. Dr. Marthe Kondemo, secretary general of the Church of Christ in Congo’s Department for Women and Families. She facilitates the initiatives of more than 15 million Protestant women.

Université Protestante au Congo (UPC)

“Education that Builds a Nation” – Université Protestante au Congo has been a pioneer in Congolese higher education for more than 60 years. With a current student population of more than 8,000 students and five schools of study – Business, Computer Science, Law, Medicine and Theology – this university has remained independent and survived chaotic political regimes, wars and civil strife.

In collaboration with HandUp Congo, Education Congo is facilitating alliances with donors to benefit the Medical School’s family medicine program.
